Lilly Aramburo’s Front Page Article on Miami New Times Puts Miami Police on Notice!

Wake up, South Florida! Lilly Aramburo is one of 5,000 people a year reported gone without a trace in Miami-Dade County.

Today, Lilly Aramburo’s story is featured on the front cover of the Miami New Times. The article appropriately titled
“Missing Peace” was written by Francisco Alvarado. I must say, he did a pretty thorough job. Much more thorough than Miami Dade Police! (Frank deserves many props!)

He accomplished the seemingly impossible…he tracked down Christen Pacheco and got his side of the story. He interviewed Kelly Starling and a neighbor of Christen’s who knew them and happened to talk to Lilly just before she vanished. I can’t help but wonder, how many resources did it take? Was it costly? Did it take that much time and trouble?

According to the article, “police inaction is one reason she hasn’t been found.” Amen to that! Even Christen Pacheco admits he’s spoken to a detective only once by phone since the initial report. Kelly Starling says she’s tried contacting the detective several times but he’s never returned the calls. She says “no one has been trying to do anything. I’ve been wanting to talk to the detective all this time.”

Captain Janna Bollinger-Heller from the Miami Dade County Police domestic crimes bureau was interviewed. She says Lilly’s case “has been a high priority.” “We have followed up on every lead.” Interesting…

Miami Residents, are you outraged? This could be your child or relative! They believe they have treated Lilly’s case with priority? If speaking with the last person to see her alive once by phone is priority, then I’d hate to even think about the cases that have not been a high priority.
If what Captain Bollinger-Heller says is true and there are only 4 detectives in Miami Dade for the 5000 reported cases of missing people, then how on earth are they supposed to be found?

I have a solution. Why don’t they classify Lilly’s case and others that qualify as homicides? They obviously have more detectives in Homicide. Besides, they have much more training and are better prepared to deal with these kinds of investigations.

The article is full of innuendos which appear to be filled with character assignation. It is not clear in the article wear the reporter is getting his curious history of the missing woman, Regardless is her life was as bad off as described the wherewith all and abilities to make her self disappear. So successfully. She took care of her child through numerous years regardless of her implied drug difficulties.

Therefore why would she find it all of a sudden abandoned these successes in the past. The answer appears to be that someone assisted in her disappearance and possible demise. In these kinds of cases logic should prevail over implied or direct innuendos of her wrong doing. I appears to be another case of a woman pressured by a man who fell prey to a psychopath, i.e. Stacy Peterson, Nicole Simpson and numerous others.

In any case the police should be pressured by everyone and do their job and not just chalk off the weak as not important. Every other group presumed weak individuals has protection from not only the law, hate crime punishments and civil rights groups but there is no one to protect Lilly’s.

If her body is every found it’ll be tied with bungie cords.

Janet, I was glad to see this 5 page article, even though I feel it didn’t portray Lilly in the best of light by describing her drug use in such graphic detail.

The thing that stands out to me is the fact that this reporter seemed to have easy access to all of those involved, especially Christen and Kelly, and even members of MDPD.

This is why it is so hard to believe what MDPD has not questioned these two diligently to get better answers as to what happened that fateful night. They know the answers, they just haven’t been forced to tell, yet.

They both need to be brought in to answer the hard questions, not reminisce about the glory days of doing drugs, living in cars and roaming the streets of Miami.

It doesn’t matter what Lilly’s character is, she is still a missing mother with a child who deserves answers. Society can not pick and choose who they will look for and who they give their attention to. We are all created equal and when one of us goes missing, we should get equal treatment under the law. We all know this is not the case.

I hope this article will spur the interest we all have worked so hard to get for you in Miami and that citizens there will take notice that it could happen to any one of them next.

    Hello,
My name is Ginny and I have to say I think what happened is an outrage! As usual, the police are not doing their job and picking and choosing what cases they work on, the easy ones, of course. I live in FT.Lauderdale, please let me know if I can help you in any way, volunteering or whatever, okay. I’m at http://www.ginny-williams.blogspot.com, also my email is gwilliams715@gmail.com. I’m also a friend of Debra’s, she asked me to check all this out and I’d love to try and help. Please let me know. GodBless and have a good evening.

I have to admit I had never heard of Lily’s story or disappearance. I make it a habit to read the New Times weekely, and was totally intrigued with this young woman’s story and the lack of interest that the police department has shown in finding her. She’s not just another faceless junkie living on the streets (which is probably why no one seems to care)…she’s a human being, a mother, a daughter. Her family deserves to know where she is or what happened to her. Either way, she needs to come home. I am glad that the New Times featured her story…so that people like me, who had never heard of her before, can find out about her and possibly help in finding her or what happened to her. I will keep her,her family and everyone involved in bringing justice to her case in my thoughts and prayers.
